While working on some music for a radio play that I’m involved in over at Misfits Audio, I realized that I don’t write enough orchestral stuff. Now, I’m not exactly trained in composition. Other than what I learned in high school and on my own, I haven’t had anyone formally teach me how to write this kind of music. So, I’m going to try to do more classical pieces as I do these one hour compositions each week. I doubt I’ll do something classical every week but I’m certainly going to put it in rotation.
While listening to a little midi piece composed by another comic artists, Sonia Leong, I got inspired to write a song that might be played during the opening screen of some sort of BS/OD roleplaying game. Most of the music I write is in 4/4 and that’s something else I’m trying to get away from now and then. So, this one is in 6/8. It doesn’t exactly have that bouncy feel that 6/8 can often have but I think it worked out alright. The harp arpeggios are quite reminiscent of Final Fantasy and I suppose that was on purpose since I’m a bit of a fanboy when it comes to those games. Anyway, here it is.
