Phone Booth Girl

Even though I’m rather under the weather today, I tried to do something constructive with my time.  Today I practiced a bit more with using 3D software to create 2D-like images.  So, I picked a random 3D character in my library and got to work.

While there are some good shaders in Carrara that help with the cell shading, it requires a lot of finessing to get things to look how I want. I think that I need to try working more with gradient shades instead of just a flat color.  I think I might work a little more on this image to what I can do. It’s just a matter of finding the right combination.

This image was rendered in Carrara and I did a little post work in Photoshop Elements.  Most of the post work dealt with contrast and it doesn’t look all that much different from the original render.

The Pimp Chalice

The whole idea of the pimp chalice amuses me and that’s why I had to include it in my comic.  I wasn’t very happy with the one I created yesterday, though.  So, I spent a bit of time today creating a new one that was a bit more pimptastic.  While I don’t plan on replacing the one in the comic since I want to keep with continuity, I am offering those that use Poser like programs the pimp chalice as a freebie.  You can grab it here.

Pimpin Ain’t Easy

When it comes to 3D modeling, I still consider myself a newbie.  Most of the models I use were created by someone else but I’m slowly learning to do some of my own stuff.  So, I decided to start sharing a few pieces for those people who use software like Daz Studio and Poser.  My first little release is the 8 ball cane that I’ve been using in some of the recent comics.  You can download it from CG Share but you’ll need to set up an account there to do so. Here’s the link: http://sharecg.com/v/46823/view/Poser/8-Ball-Pimp-Cane
