Captain Cirius

One thing that I definitely need more practice with is post production and composition.  I know I’ve probably said that a few times before but it’s one of those things that I keep reminding myself of.  While what I’ve done here is rather simple, I think it came out rather well.  I’ve been going through a lot of trial and error with laying options and how each layer has an effect on the one below it.  While it’s a slow process, I do feel like I am learning something.

This image was rendered in Carrara with post production done in Photoshop Elements.  I’ve given a thought about trying Pixelmator in the future since it seems to be growing in popularity and it seems you can do a lot with it for the price.  There’s just so many tools available out there!

Misfits Audio Production

During the middle part of last year, Kate and I started to look into do a little amateur voice acting.  Neither of us are strangers to the theatrical stuff and we decided it might be fun.  Well, during that process I came across a group of people who produce a number of different audio plays that are very much like the radio plays of old.  This group is called Misfits Audio Production.

The first project I was going to work on was supposed to be  writing music for a Halloween special but it didn’t work out due to a number of logistical circumstances.  Well, I’m now in the process of finishing some compositions for their series Strange Stories. I have a new opening and ending theme written and I should have the scene change music finished by the end of this coming week.

I’m really excited about branching out and getting involved in different things.  Hell, I’m just excited to find out that people are still making radio plays.  Television and film is great but you get to use more of your own imagination when it comes to radio plays.  You just sit back, close your eyes and let the images form in your mind.

The BBC radio version of The Hobbit is still a favorite of mine and I spent a lot of time during my college days listening to it.  Do you have a favorite radio or audio play?  Have you ever heard one before?

Return All Robots!

Last weekend at MAGfest I heard that Zircon from OCRemix had released a new CD for a video game that he had recently worked on. They were selling the both the the CD and the game itself in the dealers area and I decided to check it out.  While I knew that the music would be great, I was totally surprised at how much fun the game was.

Return All Robots! is a great little puzzle game from the independent Space Whale Studios.  While it has a lot of the typical puzzle game elements, it’s not the type of game you’d expect.  There’s an adventure game quality to it that keeps you interested and wanting to progress further into the game.  The humorous blurbs that you get from the different characters in the game adds even more entertainment.

It’s obvious that the crew at Space Whales put a lot of love into this game.  It just doesn’t have that feeling you get from some of the independent developers where it’s obvious they have no interest other than taking your money.  Return All Robots is priced at $2.99 for both XboX and Windows PC and I think that’s a steal.  Now, head over there and buy it yourself!
