Every once in a while I try to work on getting better at creating 2D like images from Carrara or Daz Studio. There are various ways to accomplish this but it can be difficult to get good results. No matter what I have tried, though, I find that I still need to do some post work. Anyway, here’s my latest attempt at doing this. I’m still working on just doing characters and eventually I’ll get to doing backgrounds. Enjoy!

I’m not too sure how happy I am with this one but that’s how it goes sometimes. Since Savage is the main villain in my comic, he’ll probably end up getting multiple songs when all is said and done. In this short song, I spent way too much time getting a basic sound which usually means that I’ll end up having a dislike for it. At least that’s how things usually go for me. I think it’s the drums that I’m just not liking. I guess we’ll see if I end up using this or not.

It’s a known fact that I have gadget lust and now that the iPhone is on the affordable side, I found myself giving in to my desires. This is my first time really sitting down with the thing even though it’s been available for a few years now. I have to say that I’m quite impressed.
Even before my package arrived today, I had a good list of applications that I planned on snagging. Most of them were free but I did pick up a few cheap ones that should be quite useful. Let’s take a look at them…
1. AC-7 by Saitara Software – As I work in my record studio, I sometimes find that I want to be in two places at once. If I’m recording something in my vocal closet, I would often run back and forth between the mic and the computer to start and stop recording. Not only is it a pain but it kind of kills the act of being creative. With the AC-7 software, I can remote control these things from my iPhone. I now no longer need to look into something like the Frontier Tranzport. Definitely worth my $3.99.
2. MotionX GPS Drive – After I heard some of the not so lovely stories about the GPS ’service’ that AT&T offers, I looked into an alternative piece of software. For $0.99, this covers what I need. Enough said.
3. 8bitone – Being a musician, I like having something that lets me be creative on the go. Since I like creating music with lots of blips and bloops, I looked for something 8-bit like and I came across 8bitone. For $2.99 (their website says $8.99 but it seems to be cheaper in the iTunes store) you get all that you need to put together some chip tunes style music. Very cool stuff.
4. Colloquy – I’ve got to stay in touch with my peeps when I’m on the go! I’ve been using Colloquy on my macs for quite some time and I really like the interface. It was a no brainer to spend the $1.99 for the iPhone version.
Other than those three applications, the rest of the stuff I downloaded was free. There are some other applications that I might grab in the future but I think I’m good for now. I have everything I need to twitter, facebook, AIM and IRC to my hearts content. I won’t list everything I grabbed but you’re more than welcome to tell me about your favorite apps.
