Yes, I didn’t end that sentence with a question mark.  This is because I’m going to talk about some of reasons I really hate going to the grocery store and I find myself yelling that particular line inside of my head during every adventure to the store.  While shopping for food is quite necessary, I often wish I could do it in a place with no other customers but me.

Now, I admit that I’m not exactly the most patient man in the world but I do try very hard to look at every situation from a point of view other than my own. That generally keeps me in check.  There are times, though, that I do wish I was wielding an axe to scare some intelligence into people. If only it were that easy.

Below are some of my pet peeves about grocery shopping. I’ll try to stick to talking about the two that bother me the most.  Here we go…

1. The store has a place to return your grocery cart to.  So, why do you feel the need to leave them in a perfectly good parking space! Not only does this get in the way of those who might want to park there but it also makes the store employees job more difficult.

2. Why is it so difficult for you to maneuver your cart so that other people can get by you? Pushing that thing around is a lot like driving a car.  Do you stick your car in the middle of the street and sit there blocking traffic? Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if you do.

Other than just being idiots, I think a lot of people are just plain lazy. While it doesn’t take much brain power or time to show a little courtesy to your fellow shopper, there are just so many people who prefer to be selfish.  It really is a shame.

There is rarely a week that goes by where I don’t come home from the grocery store with a little less faith in humanity.  I guess that’s just another part of life. I can’t help but wonder, though, if people will ever change during my lifetime. Maybe that’s just too much to ask of the world.
