Any time you go on a vacation for several days, things that need to get done just sit there. It’s the way of things. So, yesterday and today was spent catching up on various different things. I’ve been able to get work done on the comic but everything else has been behind the scenes stuff.
Despite not having too much to talk about since I got home, I have accomplished quite a bit. Other than getting caught up with various chores, I’ve been working on finalizing a number of things for the cons that are coming up. Otakon is coming up really fast but I’m not doing anything major while I’m there since I got put on a waiting list for both my panel and an artists alley table. I have been invited to sit in on the Overclocked After Dark podcast panel, though. Speaking of OCAD, I owe them a piece of artwork and I plan on getting that done before Otakon.
Today had an extra bit of happiness. I’ve been using a pair of M-audio monitors on my audio work station for a number of years. While they have served me quite well, I was in dire need of an upgrade. I really needed some speakers that a wider range so that it’d be easier to mix my recordings. I’ve been looking at a pair of KRK monitors for quite some time now and I ended up getting a coupon in the mail from Guitar Center that took $50 off the total purchase.
After setting them up in my studio, I can sincerely say that they sound GREAT. I find it much easier to dissect what’s going on in a particular mix when comparing the M-audio monitors to the KRKs. Granted, the M-audio ones were one of the first generation of speakers that were more affordable to those with a home studio. The KRK Rokit 6 monitors are a bit closer to something more professional. I took the picture below after getting things set up. I was a little taken back at home big the new speakers are compared to my iMac.
