While we have a lot of things to entertain us in the DC Metro area, there are just certain things we don’t have.  I suppose that it’s pretty much the same for any larger city or major suburbia. When I take a trip out to the Midwest, I am always reminded of things that I miss out on.

Yesterday was the wedding rehearsal dinner for one of Kate’s friends. The location for the wedding is beautiful and it’s out in the middle of nowhere. Once you get outside of Champaign, it’s corn and soy plants for as far as the eye can see.  Sometimes it feels like you’re in the middle of some Steven King movie. It’s a little bit creepy but beautiful at the same time.

On the way home, I saw two things that we really just don’t see at home.  Due to the all of the light pollution, we really don’t see much in the way of stars. That’s something I feel that we often take for granted.  The second thing we saw was a giant field of wind mills.  I’ve seen clusters of ten or so before, but I’ve never seen this man in one place.  There must have been at least one hundred of them over a span of several miles.  Below is a quick picture I took with my iPhone but I do have some better pictures that I’ll post once I unload the ones that are in my Camera.
