Well, we have made it out to the Midwest. I really have no idea how I delt with those long trips in the car when I was a kid. After about twelve hours in car, I’ve had my fill. Granted, we do take breaks to eat and what not but we’re never in on place for more than fifteen minutes. On the positive side of things, it’s cheaper than flying and usually less hassle.
Now, I grew up in Ohio. Despite that fact, I still feel like the damn place is too big. I swear that it takes a million years. While it does only take three and a half hours to cross the buckeye state, it sure feels much longer. It feels like it never ends.
As much as I complain about these long car rides, I’m lucky that I have my wife to entertain me for the duration and she does all the driving. I probably shouldn’t be as cranky as I am about the ordreal. Being cranky can be a lot of fun, though.
The highlight of the trip happened when we were about twenty minutes from our destination. We had just driven through a bit of rain and the clouds were starting to break to the point where it looked like a painting. In the DC area, we really don’t have a big expansive horizon to stare at during such events. I decided to take a picture with my iPhone and I was surprised that how well it came out. Anyway, the picture below was the view we had in front of us.
