Sometimes things that you plan don’t always go according to plan. Today was certainly one of those days but I wouldn’t say that it was a bad thing. It actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Our first stop of the day was the Parasite museum. The walk from the JR station to where the museum was located was amazing. The Meguru area had a much different feel to it than the other parts of Tokyo that we had been to so far. While not very touristy, I was quite fascinated by all of the architecture that we came across. There was even a beautify little shrine near our destination.

The museum itself was really freaky. There were parasite specimens of all different shapes and sizes. There was the famous 28 foot tape worm and there were a number of large crab like creatures that you wouldn’t find on your dinner plate. I believe you would be more likely to be on their menu as they crawled around your insides. Pretty nasty stuff.

When we got back to the railway station, we started working our way to Yoyogi park which is supposed to be filled with all sorts of interesting people on Sunday afternoons. Well, as hard as we tried, we were just not able to locate what we were looking for. We did manage to stumble into the Shinjuku Gyoen National Gardens where some of the trees were in bloom. This has to be one of the most beautiful parks I’ve ever been to. As we walked along one of the paths that go through the park, we instantly felt the insanity of the city slip away. Between the beautiful trees, strange birds and stray cats, Kate and I were glad that we ended up here instead of Yoyogi Park.

Well, now that I look up a few things through Google, it seems that we were very close to Yoyogi Park since we did make a brief stop at the Meiji Shrine. Even though that seems to be the case, I think I’m glad we ended up in the National Gardens instead. I think the tranquility that we experienced there was just the thing we needed.

By the time we left the gardens, it was well into the afternoon. We decided to make our way over to where the Sony building was located in Ginza. After browsing the area for a time, I realized that my legs were hurting quite a bit. So, Kate decided it would be best if we headed back to the hotel for a while. Well, both of us were completely passed out before 7pm. The only reason why I’m awake at this very moment is because Kate made a little mistake reading the clock thinking that it was already 7am in the morning. It really ended up being around midnight. At least it got me up so that I could write this post.
