Well, we made it to Japan after a long 14 hour flight. After we got all the essentials taken care of such as retrieving luggage, getting our JR rail pass and picking up our rented cell phone, we made our way to hotel in Yotsuya. Finding the hotel was a bit of an adventure but I’ll go into more detail on that when I have more brain cells to spare.

After dropping all our stuff off  in our room, we met up with my friend Ken and his girlfriend in Shinjuku for dinner. We had at this place where nearly every dish was 270 yen. Our final bill was about 2300 yen and we had quite a feast! Let me throw out some of the goodies that we had: shrimp chips, grilled chicken butts, some grilled squid smothered in what seemed to be furikake and grilled pig liver. Right now my jet lagged brain really can’t remember the rest.

It was really great seeing Ken considering that it’s been about five years since we’ve seen each other last.  His girlfriend was adorable and she did a fine job practicing her English on us.  I have some pictures on my iPhone from our evening in Shinjuku but I’m just not able to get the online right now. I’ll try tomorrow while we’re in Akihabara. Now it’s time for sleep.

***Update***

After waking up with the hiccups, I was able to get the photos off my phone. Here there are!
