rsbook_1While I have been reading Red String for some time, I really haven’t had the chance to start from the beginning until recently.  After I finally got caught up on reading the stack of Yen Plus magazines that were sitting in my bedroom, I decided to start getting caught up on some things that have been sitting on my shelf and the first two Red Sting volumes have been there since this past Otakon.

In many ways, Red String reminds me a bit of Kare Kano which I enjoyed a lot.  So far, the story revolves around high school student Miharu Ogawa and her friends.  Some of the plot lines are quite typical for a teenage life but there is enough of the unexpected to keep you entertained. The author, Gina Biggs, seems to know how to tell a good story and that means a lot to me.  I like pretty pictures and all but I usually will get bored with something if I don’t find the rest interesting.

I enjoy reading a number of different manga genres but romance /drama stories like this really grab me for some reason.  I wish I could put my finger on what draws me to it since I’m not exactly into that sort of thing with movies or books.  I’m not exactly the worlds biggest shojo fan but there are a number of titles out there that I like.  Yet, I also read things like Naruto.  I just like what I like.

Anyway, go check out Gina’s website at http://www.redstring.strawberrycomics.com and see it for yourself.  It may or may not be your thing but I think it’s worth giving it a try.
