So, I start working on a song several weeks ago. Actually, it’s probably been over a month. For some reason I’ve been letting way too much time linger in between working on music. The big problem with doing this is that I tend to loose touch with the feel of what I’m trying to write. This turns into frustration that eventually leads to me putting the song back on the shelf. The song I was working on, entitled ‘A Seldom Joy’, ended up just like that.
Now I’m working on something new…again. This time I’m going to make a sincere attempt at spending more time on music during the week. I did start working on this song in Record which is really the first time I’ve seriously used it. Since I’m a heavy Reason user, Record should theoretically work for me better than Pro Tools when it comes to song writing. Things are looking positive so far but we’ll see how this new song ends up turning out.
I admit that music has taken a back seat to the comic during the past couple years. While I do love working on the comic and other 3D stuff, I don’t want to give up working on music. Hopefully I can find a better balance in my weekly schedule so that I can accomplish things in both realms.
Speaking of music, I’ve decided to attend the next Magfest. Magfest is a convention that is geared towards video games and video game music. I’m pretty interested in both of these things and I really don’t think I gave the con a fair shake the first time I went a couple years ago. I was still recovering from my foot/ankle surgery back then and I wasn’t feeling very social. Maybe I’ll have some new music created on my Korg DS-10 by then.
