Outdoor Backgrounds:
While one can do quite a bit with just Daz Studio, creating outdoor scenes might be on the difficult side or at least it will in the beginning. This is where Bryce comes in to play. While you can do some wonderful outdoor scenes with it, there are some things you need to keep in mind when setting up a particular panel.
Bryce has the ability to open up Daz Studio and import any particular scene. You’ll see a large round Daz icon in the upper right hand corner when you’re in the Create menu. When you click it, Daz will open and look like normal. You can then load up a file and it will get imported into Bryce when you close the program (Daz Studio). Occasionally both programs will crash during this process which is unfortunate. To help I find that it often is more stable if you set things up in Daz Studio by itself first. That way you can save your Daz files before you even start working with Bryce.
Here are a couple of things to keep in mind. There are some things that will not import into Bryce properly and should not be used when setting the preliminary scenes up in Daz Studio. Since Bryce has it’s own lighting and camera system, you’ll need to leave those out. When the import into Bryce finishes, you’ll notice that all of your figures will loose their ability to change poses. This is another one of the reasons why you’ll need to set up each panel in Daz Studio first.
Even though your figures will loose their ability to change poses while inside Bryce, you can always re-open Daz Studio while still in Bryce. This will give you the ability to tweak things. When you close out of Daz Studio again, though, any positioning that you’ve done with your characters previously will be reset. It’ll take a lot of practice before you’re not going through this process over and over. Even then, you’ll still find yourself needing to go back into Daz Studio to change things.
While this has been a bit of a short article, it will give you a start on setting up some outdoor scenes. Next week I’ll show you a few tricks inside Bryce that will help with things like lighting and shadows. Keep practicing!
