Back when I was in college in the mid 90s, I attempted to do a little voice acting and I enjoyed it. Unfortunately I moved to Texas right after I started and I kind of gave up on it. I’ve thought about getting back into it over the past few years but recently I started getting a little more serious about it. I’m now in the process of putting together a demo to put up on the web and to send out to different companies.
I suppose one of the biggest things that has gotten my interested again is my love of anime and the fact that I’ve gotten back into doing theater again. Now, I know that breaking into the anime voice acting biz is rather difficult. I have no grand dreams of becoming the next big thing but I would love to do some minor work in the voice over field. I’ll probably take on whatever I can get involved with even if it’s silly commercials.
Another reason that I started thinking about trying voice acting is the fact that I’m turning 35 in a few weeks. For some reason I’ve started to feel like I should have accomplished more by this age. I’ve spent way too much time over the past few years being a hermit. I really want to get involved more in the things I enjoy. I’m even going to attempt volunteering at Katsucon this year. I really want to start meeting more people. I suppose we’ll see how things go.
